HCS Annual Awards

LAST WEEKEND
Last weekend was a double-header for us. We attended the HCS Annual Awards Dinner in Shrewsbury and the Stirling Sales.
So on Friday, Di travelled to Shrewsbury by train while Tom drove to Stirling with the three heifers.
AWARDS DINNER
It was a wonderful evening spent with friends and show family, and we were thrilled to collect two awards.

HORNED FEMALE OF THE YEAR - MORALEE CURLY CI288
Our National Horned Show Supreme Champion did the double - picking up the Horned Female of the Year Award. She has now triumphed in this title three times – 2023, 2024 and 2026! At just four years old, she’s already achieved so much. This year she's had an outstanding year in the show ring with her heifer calf, Moralee Curly FF422.

She’s placed highly amongst polled females – second at Northumberland, second at the Royal Highland and first and Reserve Female at the Royal Welsh. She ended her year winning Supreme Champion at the National Horned Show in Tenbury.

Not to be outdone, her calf Moralee Curly FF422 also secured third place in the Horned Female of the Year!
She’s an exciting prospect, sired by last year’s Horned Bull of the Year, Bawnlea Fighter Fury.
SHOW HERD OF THE YEAR
The Show Herd of the Year award was a bit of a surprise!
Given that our own health was priority this year, we’ve only participated in five points shows. It certainly wasn’t our goal, but our cattle have performed exceptionally well at various shows, accumulating points.

We’ve won this award four times – 2019, 2023, 2024 and 2026.
We were thrilled to secure second place in the Horned Show Herd of the Year – a remarkable feat considering our herd currently consists of just four horned breeding females!

THANK YOU
A huge thank you goes out to everyone who contributed to our success.

This isn’t possible without hard work, planning and of course, help!
We especially want to thank our two girls, Hetty Hutchinson and Cerys Mai Jenkins, for their incredible efforts this year.
A special thank you to Steven O'Kane, Helen O'Kane and Cerys - Keadyview for their help and support in helping Curly realise her dream.
Finally, thank you to Matthew Henson, Dad and Katie for keeping the wheels turning at home whilst we’re away - we are so lucky to have you all!
Last weekend Part 2 will follow – Stirling Sales!
