I’ve been trying for weeks to get a good photo of this cow!

Moralee 1 Kylie KS T7

She was judged as 1st place cow in the North of England Hereford Breeders Herd Competition. This along with March born calf Moralee 1 Carabao - a calf that we have featured a lot on Facebook

She is 6 years old and a daughter of our original Moralee 1 Kylie and sired by SMH Kingsize. Unlike many of the Kylie line she has never hit the show ring, but she has produced some amazing progeny. Twin heifers two years ago that are now doing well for new owners in Scotland and County Durham. She was the dam of our Designer Genes heifer last year that sold for 7100 guineas.

Then there is Carabao, born on that historic day for Newcastle United this year and sired by current Hereford Sire of the Year Moralee 1 RHS Prince.

He certainly caught the eye of judge Robert Clarke as he was awarded 1st place in the best bull calf category. Let’s hope Carabao continues to thrive and we have a bit of fun with him at shows this autumn

Kylie with the rest of the spring calving herd is enjoying a daily fix of herbal ley - just a few hours before being pushed back into a bare field where we are having to feed silage! We still need more rain to make the grass grow
